OFWD updates

What’s going on with the OFWD service?

Initially I setup the OFWD service because I needed it myself, and then opened it to others. With a growing user base, I’ve mentioned possibly requiring a small fee for the service to cover costs. Not including my time, the service is going to cost a couple of hundred dollars a year to run.

The service has a couple of hundred users, so this seems like it shouldn’t be a big deal. But implementing a payment system and tying it into the account system would take time and resources, and OmniGroup has announced that they will be supporting Bonjour syncing, lessening the need for the service.

So, for now, I’m going to be leaving the service in free beta mode, until further notice. (At most, I’ll put a tip jar link out, though this is of course subject to change on whim. =) )

Other small updates:

  • I’ve fixed a text formatting issue with the password reset script. It was functional before, but if you reset you password it would tell you your password had not been reset, and then tell you it had.
  • I’ve added a support page to the site with the two questions I’ve gotten so far.
